Shin Megami Tensei (ENG) App Reviews

Good for the time of release, but not for everyone today.

I personally dont mind the aged gameplay but I know that most people may not be able to adjust to it, and the touch screen controls can be a bit frustrating at times, but once you get past that this is a great classic that spawned an AMAZING rpg series, and Im glad this was finally officially localized.

Good port, great RPG!

Ive played about 10 hours now and have found nothing to criticize, except maybe the fact that the landscape mode could be a little bit bigger, and that it would be better to be able to choose on which side you want the screen to till when you go into landscape mode. To make it short, this is the best JRPG out there (if you like them hard) so there is no reason not to buy it. I especially like the fact that, if you shut down the app, you will still be able to continue even if you didnt save before, which makes things easy and pleasant. Thank you ATLUS for this port. I am waiting for smt2 and smt if... as well.

O

The best RPG i ever played on the iOS. Im really expecting the release of the other entries to the series, like Shin Megami Tensei II, III and if...

Classic RPG gameplay at a great price - Finally in English!

ATLUS knows RPGs, and this is one of their classics!

It only took them 22 years!

This is a huge release for Atlus, officially releasing their seminary dungeon-crawling RPG for the first time outside of Japan. This appears to be some form of emulation, not a remake. Thats perfect for a game like this, as not much of the original games design has been modified (graphics seem redrawn in some places; Im not sure if these are assets from the PSX release or new ones for his ed one). Since the emulator uses a virtual gamepad, nothing in the game is modified to accommodate for the iOS platform, allowing us Westerners to enjoy the original in all its glory. That said, there are a couple nitpicks here. For one thing, text entry is limited to capital letters and other symbols/numbers. Possibly a limitation from the original SFC release. Another issue is the lack of indication in changing the screen orientation. The games online manual doesnt give a clear direction on changing the screen orientation (touching the game screen, instead of turning the device). I may have misread this, but is till want to bring it up. Those aside, the game is faithfully rendered here, including its notorious difficulty. New players, brace yourself if youve never endured the series brutal difficulty! A must-buy.

So goooood

I love the personas games if u love the personas games u love it

Very Nice

A great classic for the jrpg lovers out there.

Finally in English!

Im very happy to see this game finally get an official English release. The visuals are from the GBA version and the music is from the PSX version. Its an awesome experience, I hope everyone enjoys it!

Old school

If you like old school dungeon crawler this game is for you, Hrs of gameplay great writing and fun options for talking to the daemons in game makes for along crazy messed up RPG but worth the money non the less. Ps if you dont like to read dont buy this game as it will make it less enjoyable.

Amazing jrpg

First time translated in us. A gem of jrpgs :)

A Classic JRPG that kick-started the Megaten Series.

Overall a great JRPG. However, there is a steep learning curve. Not for people who only played the spinoffs. (ex. Persona) Changes from the Aeon Genesis SNES Translation: -Improved Graphics, Music from the PS1 Japanese Port -Spell names conform to the recent ATLUS Megaten games -Ability to make text scroll faster, and ability to remove animations during battle -Ability to change AUTOBATTLE settings (ex. Attack, Recall Last Actions) -Bugs from the fan translations are fixed. (ex. Law Alignment Bug, Tutleshell Bell Bug) -Ability to quicksave anywhrere, except for battles -The COMPs map is now mapped to a particular button -Ability to mark locations on the COMPs map function -When talking to previous NPCs, there is a prompt to talk instaed of being forced to -When buying equipment, stats are shown for the the particular equipement in question -All spells and items have descriptions -Unlockable content (ex. Sound Test, Visionary, Bestiary)

Bought it a long time ago. :)

Its time to try it. :)

Awesome!

Thanks for english version!

problem

I started playing but got stuck on the next day. Ive bought coffee and talked to the girl near the cafe, but at night nothing happens, I just wake up on the next day. Is it an in-game trouble or am I doing something wrong maybe?

a timeless classic!

a great game finally translated in english

Amazing, now we want the sequel!

FINALLY! I always wish to play this game, and now I can do it and understand the story! Thank you, I simply love you! But... Can you please translate also SMT II e SMT if...? I (and I think a lot of fans out there) will buy them immediately!!

An excellent series

Always loved the smt series, and being able to get the translated first title is a real treat. Really hope the developers port more of them, as they are solid titles with a big market.

Finally an Atlus Certified translation

Good to see this In English after all these years. Good sign for future releases hopefully. Love Atlus. Love SMT. Controls feel nice. Total recommend.

FINALLY!! ITS AVAILABLE GLOBALLY

Ive been waiting for an official English translation to be released since SMT 3: Nocturne was released! Patience has served me well. (=
