Step away from clear notions of good and evil, right and wrong. There are demons in the world, but whether they are ally or enemy depends on where you stand and what you do. In Tokyo 199X, a mysterious murder leads to the emergence of demons and an escalating global conflict with the rise of a charismatic rebel leader in possession of a demon army, and external forces that wish to crush such threats with extreme measures. You, the protagonist, have an unusual ability enabled by a computer program that lets you communicate with and recruit demons to your side. As you collect demons, the program will allow you to store, summon, and fuse them to create the right team to negotiate the ever-changing balance of powers, and fight for the kind of world you ultimately wish to live in.

ATLUS’s revolutionary RPG series, Shin Megami Tensei, began on the Super Nintendo in 1992, and has gone on to sell millions of copies worldwide. It has further given rise to other hit RPG titles, including Persona, Devil Summoner, and Devil Survivor. Previously available only in Japan, this, the very first Shin Megami Tensei game, is available in English for the first time ever.

Key features:
- 40-60 hours of consuming RPG adventure
- Explore dungeons and recruit demons to your party
- Collect and fuse demons to make ever stronger demons
- Your decisions will determine the fate of the world

This application is not supported by iOS 11. Please be aware of this before deciding on your purchase.
Those who purchase this game will still be able to play/reinstall this application as long as the OS supports it.

Pros and cons of Shin Megami Tensei (ENG) app for iPhone and iPad

Shin Megami Tensei (ENG) app good for

Ive played about 10 hours now and have found nothing to criticize, except maybe the fact that the landscape mode could be a little bit bigger, and that it would be better to be able to choose on which side you want the screen to till when you go into landscape mode. To make it short, this is the best JRPG out there (if you like them hard) so there is no reason not to buy it. I especially like the fact that, if you shut down the app, you will still be able to continue even if you didnt save before, which makes things easy and pleasant. Thank you ATLUS for this port. I am waiting for smt2 and smt if... as well.
The best RPG i ever played on the iOS. Im really expecting the release of the other entries to the series, like Shin Megami Tensei II, III and if...
This is a huge release for Atlus, officially releasing their seminary dungeon-crawling RPG for the first time outside of Japan. This appears to be some form of emulation, not a remake. Thats perfect for a game like this, as not much of the original games design has been modified (graphics seem redrawn in some places; Im not sure if these are assets from the PSX release or new ones for his ed one). Since the emulator uses a virtual gamepad, nothing in the game is modified to accommodate for the iOS platform, allowing us Westerners to enjoy the original in all its glory. That said, there are a couple nitpicks here. For one thing, text entry is limited to capital letters and other symbols/numbers. Possibly a limitation from the original SFC release. Another issue is the lack of indication in changing the screen orientation. The games online manual doesnt give a clear direction on changing the screen orientation (touching the game screen, instead of turning the device). I may have misread this, but is till want to bring it up. Those aside, the game is faithfully rendered here, including its notorious difficulty. New players, brace yourself if youve never endured the series brutal difficulty! A must-buy.
I love the personas games if u love the personas games u love it
Im very happy to see this game finally get an official English release. The visuals are from the GBA version and the music is from the PSX version. Its an awesome experience, I hope everyone enjoys it!
If you like old school dungeon crawler this game is for you, Hrs of gameplay great writing and fun options for talking to the daemons in game makes for along crazy messed up RPG but worth the money non the less. Ps if you dont like to read dont buy this game as it will make it less enjoyable.

Some bad moments

I started playing but got stuck on the next day. Ive bought coffee and talked to the girl near the cafe, but at night nothing happens, I just wake up on the next day. Is it an in-game trouble or am I doing something wrong maybe?
Always loved the smt series, and being able to get the translated first title is a real treat. Really hope the developers port more of them, as they are solid titles with a big market.
Good to see this In English after all these years. Good sign for future releases hopefully. Love Atlus. Love SMT. Controls feel nice. Total recommend.
Ive been waiting for an official English translation to be released since SMT 3: Nocturne was released! Patience has served me well. (=
love you Altus USA ~thank you thank you thank you~ so much good stuff beings brought over, and all of it top notch. this port seems great so far, and the on screen controls while annoying, work well enough. (now back to work on smt ii & if.. you guys :-3 we will love you forever, regardless)
Its held up astonishingly well. Compared to other SNES rereleases its got a much better sense of pace; its much quicker to give the player the reigns but not at the expense of building a compelling scenario. The combat has enough in the way of asymmetry and overlapping systems that its immediately compelling. Theres not the 5-hour preamble you get in most RPGs of this era. Excellent soundtrack, and Im surprised how natural the vertical controls feel. I look forward to translations for 2 and If...
